I arrived in Venice the last day of Carnevale 2014, so I got to experience the last afternoon and evening’s hoopla! Everyone was out in costume. The next morning, Ash Wednesday, I attended services in San Marco Basilica to receive my anointing of Ashes on my forehead. After spending the next few hours.in the Basilica, as now I was already inside just before the other tourists, I then stepped into the glorious sunshine. I found a seat at the Quadri Cafe, just about where you are sitting and gave thanks for the opportunity to be in the “salon of Europe”! At that moment it was 12 noon and the bells in the Campanile started ringing! At that moment I could not have asked for a more blessed adventure and I share that with You! Mille grazie!

You could not have described the beauty of that experience any better. You just took me back! Thank you!
